Rotarians of the State College Rotary Club are pleased to recognize the young men and women who have achieved Scouting's highest honors. Club members who are also part of the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians (IFSR) are now attending local ScoutsBSA Eagle Scout Courts of Honor and GSA Gold Award Ceremonies to recognize these outstanding young community members.
Established in 1991, IFSR is a worldwide organization made up of over 1000 Rotarians, Rotarian spouses, Interacters, and Rotaracters who also are or were active members and/or supporters of the Scouting movement. IFSR members work to foster opportunities for Rotary service promoting the continued growth and development of Scouting, and provide active encouragement and support for Scouting activities at all levels.
The relationship between Rotary International and Scouting is a lengthy one. In fact, it was 1918 – over 100 years ago! - when Rotary became the very first service club in America to adopt Scouting. Paul Harris and James E. West, the BSA's first Chief Scout Executive, were good friends. They traveled the country together establishing Boy Scout councils. As a result of a century of Rotarian support, countless young men and women across the nation are able to enjoy the benefits of Scouting.
Therefore it is the great honor of the IFSR members of the Rotary Clubs of State College to attend Eagle Scout and Gold Award ceremonies and offer recognition to these deserving Scouts who have devoted so much of their young lives to community service.
The honored Scouts receive three special tokens. The first is a full-color personalized IFSR Certificate of Recognition in commemoration of their special achievement. The second is a 4-Way Test Challenge Coin, to always remind them of the strong commitment to ethics that brought them this success, and will continue to guide them in their future. Finally, in appreciation for the Scouts' dedication to Service, the Clubs make a donation in their names toward Polio Eradication – thus making them a part of our historic global effort forever.
The State College Rotary Club is proud to have the opportunity to offer this recognition, and demonstrate the values and service commitment of our organization.
International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians – Honor local scouts by participating in their Court of Honor, when they receive rank of Eagle Scout or Gold Award. Honorees are presented with a Rotary Four-Way Test Challenge Coin, certificate and a donation is made in their name to Polio Plus.
