Paul Markowski, Distinguished Professor of Meteorology, Penn State.
The Markowski research group studies the dynamics and prediction of convective storms and their attendant hazards, particularly tornadoes, using state-of-the-art observations, computer simulations, and theory.
His research interests include atmospheric convection mesoscale meteorology, applying basic research findings to operational meteorology problems.
His teaching interests include atmospheric dynamics, mesoscale meteorology, synoptic meteorology, atmospheric convection.

CI&S - Hope Made Real - Carol Falke, Mama Arlene Brown
The morning Arlene Brown read in her hometown newspaper about the abandoned children in the aftermath of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, she did what few retirees would ever consider doing. She joined with a mission group to make the long journey to Africa. Her memoir, Hope Made Real, is filled with rich experiences and courageous actions. Her writings reveal that the most important journeys we make can't be measured in miles, but in the strength, wisdom, and love found along the way

We will have a talk on the recent history of North Pole ice. Tom Day of Santa Clarita will cover the "general state of affairs in the Arctic Ocean" and other icy places. In his retirement Mr. Day has studied ice at the South Pole, permafrost in Siberia, and the State of California Sea-Level Rise Guidance update. He's read books on this subject by authors such as Michael Mann, Gwynne Dyer and Naomi Klein.
Mr. Day is a retired software engineer with extensive experience in Toastmasters.

The Rotary Club of State College, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bandra West (India), has submitted a Global Grant for Water Filtration Systems in rural Palghar, Maharashtra State, Western India.
It will serve 30 schools and ~ 10K students and staff.

The State College Rotary Club is selling Whitley's Peanuts to support Rotary International's efforts to END POLIO NOW.
Our club successfully raised OVER $3000 for Polio Plus in 2022.
