Recent Achievements & Activities

 

Ongoing Projects and Events:


  1. Youth Exchange Students - sponsor and host an Inbound Student and an Outbound Student, providing them an opportunity to study and meet Rotarians and Students in another country
  2. Sponsor 2 or more High School Students to Rotary Leadership Youth Academy, which is an annual program that gives student going into 11th or 12th grade leadership and team building skills
  3. Provide prizes and help with the Centre Region Parks & Recreation Annual Easter-Egg Hunt
  4. PennDOT Highway Road clean up sponsor – providing clean up along designated area along RT26 near Pine Grove Mills. We have provided this service for 10+ years.
  5. Worked with Centre Volunteer in Medicine on their “Thanks for Giving” dinner raising over $100,000 and continuing with their Annual Battle of the Minds dinner and trivia contest. In the past 7 years, over $600,000 has been raised with our help.
  6. Annual Club Auction using the money we raise to fund Scholarships, Dictionary Projects, Leadership Training and other Rotary related activities.
  7. Take-Out Meal Fundraiser that provides funds for local non-profits that need assistance.
  8. Coupon Book Sales – money raised to fund Youth Exchange Student expenses
  9. Send Club Members to Rotary Leadership Institute
  10. Volunteer to ring bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign
  11. Volunteer at the State College Food Bank when needed
  12. Provide Dictionaries to 3rd Grade Students in the State College and Penns Valley School Districts
  13. Sponsor Interact Club at State College High School providing leadership and helping them succeed
  14. Co-sponsor the Rotaract Club at Penn State, providing leadership and financial support at times
  15. Hold Four-Way Test Speech Contest for High School Students in State College, providing cash awards
  16. Two Penn State scholarship awards from State College High School each year
  17. Holiday Party and special outings for Rotarians and their families; guests are always welcome. We have visited local wineries, theatre performances, sporting events and parks.

Past Accomplishments:


  1. $25,000 donation (2002-2005) to the Centre LifeLink Ambulance Capital Campaign
  2. In last 10 years almost $130,000 contributions to local organizations such as: Ethel Beaver Fund Ulster Project of Central PA; Girl Scouts; Red Cross; Toys for Tots; Strawberry Fields; Kidz Rainbow Network Masonic Learning Center for Dyslexic; Children Discovery Space Center; Women’s Resource Center; Nittany Valley Symphony; Easter Seals; Salvation Army; Centre Volunteers in Medicine; Youth Service Bureau; Friendship Tutoring Program; Boy Scouts; Camp Cadet; State College Food Bank; and so much more
  3. Worked with Easter Seals on their “Angel of Change” fundraising dinner raising over $100,000
  4. Improvements to the State College Central Parklet play area as our Rotary International Centennial (2005) Project in cooperation with the SC Downtown Rotary Club.
  5. Book sale project for the Malkerns Valley Rotary Club in Swaziland
    Project for provision of medical equipment to Bulgaria
  6. Gave many Paul Harris Fellow Awards which helps provide monies for projects through the Rotary Foundation
  7. Several club members have been Counselors for Ambassadorial Scholars
  8. Hosted Group Study Exchange teams from Korea, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Tunisia and the Philippines
  9. $40,000+ in contributions to RI Polio Eradication Fund
  10. Contributions to Rotary International - $200,000.00+
